Death of Fr. Joseph Furst, C.P.

Father Joe Furst, C.P., a member of the Passionist Community in Adelaide, died on 30th December 2007.

Joe was born on 11th January 1932 at Orroroo in South Australia. He was professed a Passionist at Mary’s Mount in Goulburn on 5th February 1962 and ordained at Jamestown, South Australia, on 26th July 1967.

He joined the Glen Osmond (Adelaide) Community in 1986 and for a long time ministered as Chaplain at Lourdes Valley Retirement Home directly opposite the Monastery. Joe eventually became a resident at Lourdes Valley himself and even in his semi retirement continued his chaplaincy duties.

He died at 10.15 a.m. on 30th December 2007 in the presence of some of the members of the Passionist Community.

The Provincial, Fr. Joachim Rego, C.P, will be Principal Celebrant of the Funeral Mass to be held in Passionist Church at Glen Osmond on Wednesday 2nd January 2007. Archbishop Philip Wilson, Archbishop of Adelaide, will attend the Funeral Mass.

Joe, may the angels lead you into paradise;
may the martyrs come to welcome you
and take you to the holy city,
the new and eternal Jerusalem.
