Passion Sunday, Commemoration of the Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem

Almighty, ever living God,
you have given the human race Jesus Christ our Saviour
as a model of humility.
He fulfilled your will
by becoming man and giving his life on the cross.
Help us to bear witness to you
by following his example of suffering
and make us worthy to share in his resurrection.

Jesus enters Jerusalem in glory. Is this the ancient Jerusalem, always ready to kill the prophets? Or is this the new Jerusalem where the kingdom is already present?  We also praise Jesus by bringing palms and branches into our homes or communities. Through this symbolic gesture we are saying that our foundations are built on the New Jerusalem.
