What am I reading?

As a young man St. Paul of the Cross joined the Confraternity of St. Anthony of the Desert, which met in the oratory down the street from his family home in Castellazzo; after a short time he was elected prior. The members of the confraternity would meet on Sundays and feast days and listen to Paul read from some book on prayer, which he would then try to explain.
