Fr. Denis Travers, C.P., writes from Rio following the meeting of Young Passionists –

From the evening of 21st July till 11pm 22 July the Young Passionist group travelled from Ponta Grossa to Rio de Janeiro – a trip that eventually took 24 hours by bus. Along the way they stopped at the national Shrine of Brazil (Our Lady of Aparecida) where these photos were taken. The Shrine itself is massive and built in a ‘cross shape’ so that the four main ‘bodies’ of the church all focus on one circular sanctuary area (i.e. all four ‘churches’ face the one altar). The complex in which the shrine is situated has parking for 500 buses, picnic areas, gardens, un amusement park (complete with Roller Coaster, Ghost Train and many other attractions), a Shopping Centre, a Conference Centre, a food and dining plaza. Families can enjoy the entire day at the Shrine.

The 70 strong Young Passionist Group is now in Rio and will meet with the extended Passionist Family (Passionist Youth Groups from all round South America and the world) at the Passionist College in Rio de Janeiro.
