Advent .. a contemplative season

20151125 Kellyville Gary Perritt

“Advent is truly a contemplative season, a time of stillness and quiet, a time when we wait patiently, pray intensely, and prepare eagerly for the arrival of the Light that shall shine on Christmas Day … The Christian monk is invited to turn inward during this blessed Advent period and embark on an inner journey … All of us feel the great need to be rescued from the power of darkness, the somberness and hopelessness that envelop our daily world. There is an instinctual need for light, for the true light that intimately is revealed on the day of the Lord’s coming.” (p. 42)
