Blessed Dominic Barberi, Passionist

25 February, 2016

UnknownAt the request of the Archbishop Bernard Longley of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, England, a novena of prayer will be prayed in all the parishes throughout the diocese imploring God to grant a further miracle that could be used for the canonization of Blessed Dominic. This will take place from Friday, February 26 until Saturday, March 5, 2016.

During the first week of March the Archbishop accompanied by some priests and faithful of the diocese will make a pilgrimage to Rome and on March 5, they will celebrate a Mass for this intention in the Chapel of St. Paul of the Cross in the Basilica of Sts. John and Paul.

Fr. Joachim Rego, Superior General, together with Fr. John Kearns, IOS Provincial Superior and our religious in the IOS Province of England, are asking that our all our Passionist religious and communities, as well as the Passionist Family at large, also join in praying this novena. Below is the prayer to be used each day:

NOVENA PRAYER FOR THE CANONIZATION OF BLESSED DOMINIC BARBERI

(February 25 to March 5, 2016)

O God, who so lovingly raised Blessed Dominic

to the heights of holiness, learning and apostolic zeal

and made him a powerful minister of your mercy,

listen to our humble request.

We pray that you will in your goodness,

grant a miracle through the intercession of Blessed Dominic,

so that the Church may further honour him on earth

and that many more people will come to know and invoke the help

of this faithful servant of the Church.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord Amen.

Mary, Mother of Mercy: pray for us.

Blessed Dominic Barberi: Pray for us.

Blessed John Henry Newman: Pray for us.
