“In a few days’ time, we will celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Mary into heaven so it seems appropriate to spend a little time reflecting on her life as a true disciple and follower of Jesus; a great missionary continuing her Son’s mission to bring about the Kingdom of God.
Mary emerges from the Gospel as a strong, free and courageous, faith-filled woman who by her “Yes” to God’s invitation became the first member of the community of believers in Christ. She has fully experienced the entire pilgrimage of faith as mother of Christ and then of the disciples as she came to stand at the foot of the Cross. Mary had a unique Mission in the history of salvation, conceiving, educating and accompanying her Son to his ultimate sacrifice. (Aparecida 266).”
