St. Pius of St. Aloysius (Campidelli) was born on 29 April 1868 at Trebbio in the Diocese of Rimini (Italy) and was the son of farmers. It was through a parish mission that he came to know the Passionists. He was clothed with the Passionist habit on 27 May 1882 and professed on 20 April 1884. Eagerly entering the Passionist way of life, he was outstanding in his devotion to the Eucharist and Our Lady, for his fraternal charity and serious dedication to study. After receiving Minor Orders and while he was preparing for the Subdiaconate, he was afflicted with a grave illness. He died on 2 November 1889. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 17 November 1985.
O God, who reveals yourself in a marvellous way to the little ones and to the pure of heart, manifest yourself to us, we beseech you, as you did to Blessed Pio Campidelli. As our one and true Good, grant that we may follow you unceasingly in purity and sincerity of life, loving you above all things and loving others with your love. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. | (1992 Passionist Proper Offices)
