15th September Our Sorrowful Mother

10 September, 2011

15th September is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Interpreting the traditional sentiment, the 1964 Passionist General Chapter decreed by unanimous acclamation the recognition of the Sorrowful Virgin as the principal patroness of the Passionist Congregation.

“Next Friday will be the day of the Passion of my Most Holy and Sorrowful Mother. Pray for me that her Sorrows and the Passion of my Jesus may remain imprinted on my heart. How I desire to see them imprinted on the hearts of all, that thus the whole world may be on fire with Holy Love”. (St. Paul of the Cross)
